A Student Example of
the Development of a Portfolio

Putting together a body of work to represent your technical and creative accomplishments in the form of a portfolio is an advantage to art students.

Even if you are not planning to pursue art in your further education, the things that you have created tend to have increasing significance over the years, not only to your self, but to your family members.

For those students who plan on attending an art school in the future, a portfolio is an essential tool.

It will be a necessary addition to your school marks, for admission and a good idea to start to put together your best work in Art10 and plan for portfolio pieces throughout your art training.

In  math, on the basis of your marks alone, you can gain entrance into higher level schools and courses.

With art, in many schools, your portfolio is at least as important as your art mark and in some cases more important.

It is good to start early so you, and others, can see your skills develop in your work.

In most cases a demonstration of developed skills and understanding of  lines, values, color, design, dimension, an overall demonstration of creativity, or original thinking and 'other', being other media or your areas of specialty or interest.
